Moving and Retiring Thoughts

We are a family currently living in Southern California and planning to move and retire a few years from now and are exploring and researching various places in the world such as Spain (where we have no family), Philippines (where we have Jean’s family ), and Pennsylvania (where we have Ken’s family).

With MoveRetire.com we will use our professional background and experience at DreamWell Homes Realty in San Diego; serving retirees since 2010 from all over the USA who want to move and retire.

We currently live and work out of North San Diego – a special place with its enviable Mediterranean climate, natural beauty and proximity to the coast. We love having a plethora of activities and services nearby, everything we could possibly need is here.

But why even think of other places to move and retire to? Well, number is we don’t plan to work on forever. At some point when we retire, our income will not be enough to sustain our living expenses here in California. Therefore, we need to start looking on where we can move and retire to, and do this years in advance.

This involves online research in the beginning then in person scouting. With our business at DreamWell Homes Realty, we know that this is exactly how our retiree clients do it. And we thought we would document this research on where to move or retire to.

Everyone is different and have their own set of criteria. Our family is a little bit unique only because Ken is now of retirement age, while I am a few years off, and we have very young kids, currently 5 and 9 years old. Whereas most retirees are not raising a family, we are. Basically, we cannot retire in traditional retirement places restricted to seniors only like in 55+ communities. Although, we would have done so, had we not chosen to become parents almost a decade ago. There are no regrets there. Ken is a baby boomer and I am a Gen X with Alpha generation kids. It makes life so interesting and varied. Not to mention all that LOVE.

Anyway, with MoveRetire, we plan to create move and retire videos and articles that we hope retirees and future retirees alike will find useful and educational.

Thanks for following our journey!

Warmly,
Jean
